Look up a word in 20 different dictionaries and thesauruses at once!
Note: These are not a random selection of dictionaries. Every one of them has been carefully evaluated by a professional English educator, research expert, and educational resource specialist. Sites like Dictionary.com, Google.com, and many others are not in the list for a reason. We do not recommend using them if you want to correctly understand what a word means.
Tips:
- Remember: Using a thesaurus is a 2-step process. Once you find a synonym, always look it up in a dictionary to see how it is used. Synonyms are similar words, not identical words.
- Tip: Not every dictionary/thesaurus has every word.
- Tip: Some phrasal verbs will only show up correctly if you search for the verb only (especially in Britannica).
